Who I am.
Jake Beach is the founder of AEO Listings LLC, a Mesa-based agency that helps contractors and local service businesses get recommended in AI search, Google, and other answer engines when prospects ask who to hire. He combines real-world marketing and small-business experience with a focus on helping owners grow on their own terms — building simple systems that turn online visibility into the right kind of calls, leads, and booked work.
I started AEO Listings in Mesa, Arizona because the way local recommendations happen just changed and most small businesses don't know it yet. A growing share of people looking for a plumber, roofer, electrician, or local pro now ask ChatGPT before they open Google. The businesses getting recommended by AI aren't necessarily the best — they're the ones that made themselves easy for AI to recommend. I wanted to fix that gap for the kind of business I grew up around.
What I work on.
Answer Engine Optimization
The core discipline of the agency — structuring a business's content, entity signals, and off-site corroboration so it gets cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overview when prospects ask for a recommendation.
Local services markets
Home service trades and local professional practices doing $500K–$10M in annual revenue — plumbers, HVAC contractors, roofers, electricians, landscapers, painters, remodelers, CPAs, attorneys, dentists, vets.
East Valley + Phoenix metro
Direct market experience in Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, and Gilbert — six regional pages document the specific AEO dynamics of each.
Schema.org & structured data
Entity-graph architecture (Organization + Person + Service + FAQPage + Review, wired by @id) as the technical foundation any local business needs before AEO tactics compound.
Four rules.
I don't break them.
Answers first. Jargon never. Every page answers the actual question in the first paragraph.
Measure what AI sees. Track citations, not rankings. If citation share doesn't move, the work hasn't done its job.
Retainer, no lock-in. Cancel by email. The work has to earn its keep every month.
We pass our own test. If our own site doesn't get recommended by AI chatbots, we have no business selling the outcome to clients.
Where to read
my thinking.
I publish on the AEO Listings blog roughly weekly. Recent pieces:
- Why ChatGPT recommends your competitor instead of you The five-pattern diagnostic — entity signals, retrievability, recency, corroboration, category specificity.
- How to check if ChatGPT recommends your business The DIY citation audit method — 12 prompts, 4 chatbots, 3 runs each.
- The Schema.org markup you actually need for AEO in 2026 The minimum viable set — five entity types + the graph pattern.
